In honor if the 2018 Lamplighter Guild that will be happening at the end of this month, I wanted to release my vlog series from the 2017 Guild as a look back at the memories we made last year. This series has taken me ages to complete, so I hope you enjoy it! Click below to get the full story. ;) Day 1The week started out on Saturday when I left very early in the morning to go to the airport. It was my first time on a plane in 10 years, let alone by myself. It was also my first time out of state on my own. I got to the airport a bit later than the suggested two hours before, but still plenty early to get through and get to my plane. After going through the madhouse that was the bag check line, I headed over to security where I was rudely flagged for being too thin. My bones stuck out enough that they thought I was hiding something under my clothes. xD After being stuck at security for a terribly long amount of time, I finally got through and headed to my gate. Arriving there, I was informed that my gate had been changed and I had to walk half way back down the concourse to get where I actually needed to go. By the time I actually got to the right gate, the plane was already boarding. Thankfully I made it on the plane in time, though only just barely. After that, it was a good flight from there to Chicago where I was to pick up my connecting flight to Rochester, New York. On the plane I had a good conversation with a lady next to me and I also had a good conversation with a local lady from Chicago while I was waiting to board the flight to New York. I boarded the latter with no issues and arrived there after a quick hour and a half flight. I thought all the shenanigans of the day were over, but no. As soon as I walked out of the high security area I was informed that I couldn't go down to baggage claim because the police were blocking it all off. This was a problem because I had one checked bag and I needed to get downstairs so I could pick up my shuttle to Mount Morris which is where the Guild was being held. After waiting for quite a while I was informed that they opened a small area on the other side of the airport where you could claim your bags and after finding mine I came back upstairs to call to see where my shuttle was. Thankfully it was waiting for me outside on the upper level so I was able to get to it okay. According to one of the other passengers, there was supposedly a bomb threat at the airport which is why they had so much of it closed off. After the some 45 minute ride to Mount Morris, the rest of the day was pretty chill. I got set up in my room with my roommate and then he went to explore town while I took a few hour nap after the tiring morning of traveling. Later I woke up and took a several hour walk in town down main street and then down a beautiful path that I found. That evening I had a good long talk with Christian before we fell asleep at 1 or 2 am in the morning. ...yeah I like talking and so does he. Day 2The next day was pretty chill as well. It was Sunday and Guild didn't properly start til 4 in the afternoon so we had until then to basically do whatever. That morning I went out with Christian and his sister as well as a couple of other girls to get some donuts for breakfast after which we went into town to check out some local stores and antique shops. While there I was informed that I had to go pack up all my things in the room that I was staying at because I was actually going to be staying at a bed and breakfast for the week. After doing that I headed back down to the main headquarters to register and then just hung around until a tour of Lamplighter and their new school happened followed by orientation and the opening session which was followed by an absolutely fantastic ballet about wisdom and folly. Never in my life would I have imagined that I would have enjoyed that, but I really did. It was incredible. Late that evening we had a small taste of what the dramatic arts classes would be like and then we headed off to bed... well sort of to bed. My roommates and I ended up playing Uno and talking for a couple hours and then going to bed. xD Keep an eye out for part 2. ;)
