Day 5
On Wednesday we got picked up around 6 AM to get to headquarters so we could board the bus for Mohonk Mountain House, a castle in upstate New York where the last half of the Guild would be held. The bus ride was pretty uneventful. I got to have some good conversation with my friend Duncan and some other people sitting near me and closer to the end of the trip the entire bus broke out singing worship songs in parts - some hymns, some contemporary, but all amazing. That was probably my second favorite part of the week. :P 6 or so hours after we left Mount Morris, we arrived at Mohonk -- well sort of. Mr. Hamby made everyone get off the bus so they could walk the rest of the way and take in the view instead of just being dropped off at the front door. After that we had lunch and orientation and then it was back to work in our classes where we did more brainstorming and writing of the script. After that, we checked into our rooms and had some more class before it was time for dinner. Dinner at Mohonk is a very fancy affair. You dress up in resort formal attire and it's always a very fancy meal. Dressing up like that to eat isn't something I do very much but I rather enjoyed it. Makes you feel and act a whole lot higher class. After that we had some more class trying to finalize the script before we went back to our rooms for bed. Me being my typical self stayed up late again talking but the conversation was definitely worth skipping out on a little sleep.
Day 6
On Thursday we absolutely had to have the script done because that morning we were scheduled to do the recording so it could be completely finished by Friday morning for the closing ceremony. Sitting in on the recording is pretty much all I did that day. Shortly after lunch while most of the people went on a strenuous hike, I stayed back because I didn't really bring the right shoes for the kind of climbing they were doing. Instead I walked around doing some photography with Lindy and her friend Rebecca and later on Max joined us. After that it was off to do more recording until we had finished everything up. Between the end of that and dinner I ended up walking around the inside of the entire Mountain House and looking at the pictures on the walls with Marisha, the girl I wrote our scene with two days prior. It was a fun time although my feet were absolutely killing me by the time we finished because that was a lot of walking. Then it was time for dinner and after that a keynote address by Mark Hamby. It was a very powerful presentation where he called people up to the front at the end who wanted to give up any foolishness they were holding onto and dedicate their lives back to Christ. That was a very emotional time for a lot of us and afterwards groups of students gathered around other students to pray for them. I love groups like this where everyone takes initiative to pray for those they see who are hurting. If only more people could be like that. After finishing up, we sang some more and then wrapped up for the evening - at least the scriptwriters did. I do believe the sound designers and music composers got back to work and the filmmakers were still working on interviews as the deadline for all the projects was the next morning. That was kind of a sad night since it was our last one there at Mohonk.
